External (Not Internal) Cues That Win
You’ve heard these before: chest up. Extend your upper back. Use your hips to twist.
Those cues can help some people, but for many trainees they sound like a foreign language, especially when they’re new to deadlifting. Instead, get comfortable with external cues, which—unlike internal cues that describe what the body is doing in space—signal intent or direction.
These cues can be game changers when it comes to helping people understand what you’re asking them to do as a coach.
