The key to a great training plan
There isn’t a single key or perfect approach. Everyone’s different, and what works for one person might not suit another.
We could argue about which exercises are best, the order to do them, how many sets and reps, whether to use high-bar or low-bar squats, the right rest intervals, and whether a 2-1-2 tempo or a 1-2-1 tempo is ideal. But none of that matters if you don’t show up.

Credit to Charlie Reid for this idea.
For your clients—especially beginners—the best set-and-rep approach is the one that gets them in the gym three times a week for 52 weeks. If they master the habit of showing up, great things will happen.
I prefer 2-1-2 on odd days and 1-2-1 on even days. If it’s Wednesday, though, I think 3-2-1 works best.
